Assad has a point -- he might need to stay on until some semblance of stability takes hold in Syria. But only a fool would believe he would then step down. Why should he when things are under control?No, we are not buying it. But we will if we see a replacement government come together that is ready to take over at a finite time. This should give Assad a chance to wind down the affairs of his own government and even exit comfortably to Iran. As for ISIS, he can still fight them at the same time -- and with help of not only Russia but from us as well. Yes, we can give him hand to rid ISIS once we see his own exit plan is in place.
